"Tobey the Unchosen"

All Tobey wants for the new school year is to be recognized as the boy he is. After his mother attempts to force a long wig on his head (to cover his illicit buzzcut) and his teachers deadname him, Tobey loses hope. His situation worsens when the cruelest of the school bullies, Catrissa, tortures him in the boys’ restroom to make him admit he’s a girl. Tobey believes himself rescued by the startling interruption of a being with pointed elf ears, but the Legolas-impersonator ignores Tobey and offers Catrissa a fantastic destiny via beautiful amulet. Captivated by that amulet, Tobey reaches for it along with Catrissa, and the bauble transports both teens to another dimension.
Upon their arrival, a High Elf Queen informs Tobey that Chaos allowed him to be one of eight avatars fated to use a rare, magickal event to save the fae world. Tobey has one month to learn how to use magick with the other avatars (including Catrissa) while navigating fae prejudice against his humanity. If Tobey doesn’t cooperate, the Queen will order his execution. A prophetic sprite, sly gnome, even ancient dragons help Tobey uncover the truth behind the conflict, but the royal family’s dark secrets and an unknown enemy threaten to destroy his chances of ever returning home.
